Mommy is really busy remodeling our home and studying for the Law SAT. That’s why she isn’t playing with me so often, blog-hopping or writing here. I never had a dog before. I grew up with cats. From my underwear to my bedroom decoration you could see cats had a very important place in my heart. Funny cats… Playful cats… Cats living the way I wanted to live… free, happy, worry less… When I was in college I had eleven cats at the same time living in my bedroom for six months. When I got married our first pet was a cat. I loved him dearly. He was my companion, my friend and my help to get used to my new life. When he left I mourned for many months… I got clinically depressed.
Almost a year later DH thought it was a good idea to buy a pug. Since I never had a dog before I bought a whole bunch of books on dog care and training. There I learned that pugs can’t live alone because they are unhappy. So, I ask DH if he could buy another pug. And, being the good man he is, he bought me another dog. I was officially transformed into a pug addict. Their love and cute personality melted my heart. I think I like pugs because in some ways they are like cats. They like to be pet; they follow you all the time… They even lie down over my newspaper when I’m reading it! LOL
I am like a first time mommy. I’m constantly reading about pugs. They are like my babies. I want to give them the best I can… SO, since they arrived I’ve been baking cookies and treats for them. I’ve baked flavors like CinnaBone, Bark-B-Q, VeggieBites, Howl Wheat, Peamutt Butter, Paw Lick’n Chick’n, Dig’n Cheese, & Puggylicious Pumpkin Treat. Each time I test a new flavor I wrap them in nice bags and give a sample to my neighbours and family dogs. It is a hit! All the dogs love my treats. Even Pancho, a very picky dog who always reject store-bought dog treats. Now I want to make a business out of this’. I bought a book on How to Start a Doggy Treats Business. I don’t have a name yet and I’m still testing recipes… But I think this would be a nice hobby/business.
One month ago I thought that I need something to differentiate me from the others. So I sign up for a Basic Baking Course at Xiomara’s Bakery in Isabela. So far I’ve learned SO MUCH I can’t even tell. Now my dog treats taste even better. How do I know? Because I always taste them!!! Hello!!! They are homemade cookies made with human grade ingredients. SO… Now I have a new addiction: baking cookies/cakes and cake decorating. That’s why I haven’t been able to post as I used to. I’m baking and perfecting my techniques all the time. But don’t worry. I don’t eat all that I make. I send it to DH’s office or give it to my parents.
Who would have thought that all I needed was a dog!? This confirms the saying:
“Si estas aburrido, comprate un perro” ~ “If you are bored, buy a dog” 
Now let me share with you my recently adquired knowledge…
Puggylicious Pumpkin Treats
Ingredients:
½ cup canned pumpkin
½ cup water
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon nutmeg
½ cup oatmeal
2 cups whole wheat flour
Instructions: Preheat oven to 375. Combine the pumpkin, water, oil, cinnamon and nutmeg in a bowl. Stir well. Gradually add oatmeal and flour. Form dough. Roll dough to ¼ inch thickness and cut with cookie cutter (I use a bone shape). Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet at 375 degrees for 40 minutes or until lightly golden Gas ovens are faster than electrical ones, so keep an eye on the cookies the first time you do them because there might be a difference in timing. After it’s done, let it cool before giving them to your furry friend. I ensure you that your dog will learn new tricks to get this treat.

For those who don’t know me. I’m a Fiona Brighid Toro Tapia. Ashar Edith’s first baby. Why do I say first? Because she couldn’t handle to play with me all the time, so she found me a best friend… or should I say boyfriend? Well his name is Bin Bo Toro Tapia. He is a Fawn Pug. Although he looks bigger than me, he is two weeks younger. He was born on February 07 and I was born on January 22, 2006.
We used to fight all the time for the first month but now we love each other very much. We wrestle and play pranks on each other all the time. Whenever Bin Bo needs me I’m there to help him. Usually when he is scared I confort him. I’m braver than him *wink*.
Mommy likes to teach us different things because she says she want us to be good citizen. We already know the meaning of sit, ven (come), vamos (come), espera (wait), no, cuidado (carefull), pipi / caca (go potty), agua (water), comidita (food), a la casita (go to bed), and we answer by our names.
Mommy likes to cook special treats for us. We never eat treats from the store because mommy says it has preservatives and other bad stuff. She bakes fresh cookies for us every other week… Mom likes so much to cook for us, and our friends, that she is thinking on starting a business out of it. She is still thinking on a name though. I think mom is the best cook in the whole world!
For the last few weeks mommy have been working on different projects. She is working REALLY hard to reach her dreams. She says she won’t wait on things to come to her. I don’t know what she means by that, but I think it most be good because she seems really happy latelly… She is even taking a Basic Pastry Chef course. Now the house smells like cake all the time.
On Wednesday we are going to San Juan because mommy have few job interviews from Wednesday to Friday. I don’t know how she managed to acomodate all the interviews in just three days, but she did. Hopefully we will be moving out of town REALLY soon. Wooooohoooo. PLEASE SEND ALL YOUR GOOD VIBES AND PRAYERS TO OUR WAY because she REALLY wants this to happen.

My name is… I think I don’t have an official name yet. But you can refer to me as Leia the Pudgy Princess… I’m a Pure Breed Pug so I MOST have a royalty name.
Since Mommy is too busy cleaning the house. I sneaked into the office to present myself to all her BlogFriends out there.
I used to live in a cold cage in a Pet Shop but yesterday Daddy came to my rescue. He said that my only job was to make Mommy happy so she gets out of depression faster. I don’t know what he meant by that, but I’m trying my best to be as cute as I can be. He also said that I’m her Valentines / Anniversary gift… So, I made sure I move my tail when I saw her… They say dogs look cutter when they do that. So, I did!
I’ve been here less than 24 hours and she said that she loves me already. She tried to take pictures of me but I was running like Flash. In the end, she had a whole bunch of pictures of the floor. LOL But what can I say? I’m only 44 days old! I like to play and run!
Mommy measured me because… I don’t know. I guess she likes to make strange stuff like that. Then she told me I am 4 inches tall and 8 inches long… But I don’t believe her ’cause I was playing while she was measuring me… She also tried to weigh me in a kitchen scale. Boy I was scared as hell! She didn’t accomplish her ‘mission’ but she said I’m less than two pounds.
My new parents never had a dog before. I’m their first one… They used to have a cat and a Beta but they both die last year… They said that if I survive, they can have a baby. Oh Lord! Please protect me from their unexperienced hands!!!
