La abogada de la familia

Desde pequeña siempre me he metido en líos por estar defendiendo a los demás. Cuando había alguna injusticia en la escuela, yo salía ‘al rescate’ de todos, abriendo mi bocota para expresar mi ‘humilde’ opinión. Si castigaban a alguien en mi familia, trataba de convencer a quien fuese necesario para que quitaran el castigo. Cuando algún amigo necesitaba algo de alguien y no sabía como hablar, normalmente me buscaba a mí para que yo hablase por el. Siempre que un adulto me atrapaba en mis andadas de ‘ayudar’ a otros, me decía que yo debía ser abogada. Cuando llegué a la universidad decidí seguir ese paso… Terminé el bachillerato en Pre-Jurídica e Historia de Puerto Rico con buen promedio, pero cuando me tocó comenzar en la Escuela de Derechos me entró el frío olímpico… Pasé tanto trabajo para pasar el Seminario Integrador de Pre-Jurídica que comencé a dudar de mis capacidades para lograrlo. Eso, combinado con un chorro de ineptos diciéndome que no perdiera el tiempo estudiando porque Cristo venía pronto, provocó que no siguiese mi sueño de tener un Juris Doctor. Ahora, luego de diez años de haberme graduado de Pre-Jurídica, voy tras mi sueño. Voy a tomar los exámenes de admisión y me voy a matricular en la Escuela de Derechos.

Estoy estudiando para tomar el LSAT y una de las partes que más énfasis le dan es ‘pensamiento lógico y crítico’ peeeeeero, de acuerdo con el siguiente IQ test, mi pensamiento lógico está bajo el promedio. WTF! ¿Cuando me sucedió eso? ¡Yo solía ser buena en lógica! ¡Saqué A+ en la maldita clase! Arg! Más vale que ponga a practicar todos los días hasta el 30 de septiembre o me chupa la bruja.

Now my life is complete! I know what Sharpie color I am. ROFLOL There are so many silly self-tests of this in the www that you can be a whole week taking them and you won’t take them all! What kind of person would spend time creating/taking these stupid tests? Don’t know, but I find myself every now and again taking them. Don’t know why, I just see a new one and take it without thinking much about it. Why? I don’t know… Maybe too much time free!? But whatever! If you like this kind of stuff, here’s the link to this silly quiz!

I’m married to a genius… Seriously! Mike is a really smart person. I always say that I married him for his brain, not for his looks. LOL… See, he is a geek, just like me. I guess that’s perfect. The only problem is that, unlike me, he isn’t a very social person… Mmmm Heck! He is a social incompetent! Anyway… Although we don’t have a very social life, it is full of special/funny moments because of his ’special ways’ of doing things. Some people say we are a strange couple. I say we are a smart couple who knows how they want their stuff done.
Three “handy tools” we always have home are: Sharpies, Duck Tape & Wet Wipes. I don’t know how, but Duck/Duct Tape can fix just about anything! From fashion statement to first aid kit, this military tool has LOTS of uses. Just ask this couple! Whenever something brake or leak, we grab a piece of Duck Tape to fix it. Every now and then those ‘temporary’ fixes become permanent just for the sake of procrastination. While Duck Tape plays an important role on our DIY projects, the handy tool we most use is the Wet Wipe. If there’s some dirt, stain or spill we run for a wet wipe. The ones called baby wipes has become an all purpose tool in our house. From car to window cleaning that ‘handy tool’ makes a huge difference in our lives. Whenever I see a stained outfit the first thing I try to remove the stain with is a baby wipe. I’ve learned that Wet Wipes can remove just about any stain, but Sharpie. Those permanent ink markers are good to have home. But why do we have Sharpies in all colors available? To tell you the truth, I have no idea! I just know that I can use and abuse anything my husband has in his desk but his Sharpie… That’s off limits. If for any reason his Sharpies disappear he goes to the store to buy new ones. See. We are normal people with normal habits… Well I’ll admit we are a bit different.
The other day I see Mike, REALLY HAPPY, digging holes on the backyard. Putting dirt in a bucket and moving it to other places of the backyard. I watched quietly from the office but after a while I had to ask him what he was doing. He answered he was moving ants from one nest to the other to start an Ants War. Wasn’t just easier to use Fire Ant Killer Granules? Ok… I guess I’ll have to admit my husband is weird. But he makes me laugh!!! In the end, that’s why I married Mike.

Network in distress

Wandering why I’m not posting nor commenting in your blogs? For the past three weeks my computer was shooting down automatically after few minutes of use. My husband planned on changing the fans and some other hardware because maybe the PC was having a hard time dealing with summer heat. BUT, while we were planning what to do, the trojans were feasting in my PC! By the time we noticed the presence of trojan horses it was too late. Now It’s so badly infested that we most format the hard disk and reinstall everything. *sad look* Just the thought of it makes me sick!!! I don’t even know how much info I have lost. I just know that I’m pissed right now and I want to kill few of those brilliant minds who create this beautiful gifts for all of us! To make things even worst, our HTPC was infested as well. The hard drive died the same day we noticed the trojans in my PC. Thanks God we had a backup copy of it! How it entered into our network? Ps! We don’t know. We have firewalls, virus scanners, and all the stuff we usually use to protect our babies. Now we can use only ONE computer, out of four that we have. Therefore, I won’t be around as often as I was because now I’m sharing the only computer left of our network with my husband. Thalk about crisis!!!

Conociendo WordPress

Estos últimos días he estado jugando mucho con WordPress para aprender a añadir y quitar elementos en mi blog según sea mi deseo. Luego de jugar con muuuuchos diseños descubrí que esta plantilla basica de WP me gusta mucho. Por eso he decidido seguir usandola y simplemente hacer sólo unos pocos cambios por el momento. Ya he añadido varios plugins y todavía estoy clasificando los ochocientos y pico de post que transferí de Blogger.

Uno de los plugins que más me gusta es el de ‘Comentarios Recientes’; ya que, no sólo nos permite ver los últimos cinco comentarios sino que, al lado del nombre del que comenta aparece su Gravatar. Si no sabes lo que es eso, ve aquí.

Otro plugin que estoy probando es ‘Basic Bilingual‘. Este me permitirá identificar en qué idioma es cada publicación, además de poder integrar un corto resumen en el otro idioma. De este modo nadie se pierde de nada. ¡Chévere! ¿Verdad!?

Pero, lo que más me tiene enchulá es mi RadioBlog. Aquí voy a subir música de todo tipo… de acuerdo a como me sienta ese día. Esa música es SOLO para que la escuchen. Lamentablemente NO pueden bajarla. ¿Por qué? Porque yo le digo NO a la piratería. Bajar y comprar música pirateada es robar. So, NO LO HAGAN!

La experiencia de cambiar de Blogger a WordPress me está gustando mucho porque estoy aprendiendo un montón. Sé que en par de semanas voy a estar riendome de el chooooorro de moronidades que he cometido en este proceso. Cosas que no contaré porque no quiero humillarme publicamente. ;0p

[Update 02.26.06] I’m still trying my best to make Basic Bilingual work… For some reason the ‘Other Language Excerpt’ doesn’t show on top of my posts in Spanish… Nor viseversa. Hpe I can fix this soon!
